Machina Labs has secured USD 124 million in its Series C funding round to build its first large-scale "Intelligent Factory." This funding was supported by investors like Woven Capital (Toyota’s venture arm), Lockheed Martin Ventures, Balerion Space Ventures, as well as Strategic Development Fund (SDF).
The company strategizes to utilize the investment to open a 200,000-square-foot production facility, capable of housing up to 50 RoboCraftsman cells. This smart factory will bring thousands of complex metal parts each year for aerospace and defense customers, such as missile structures and airframes.
The factory is planned to manufacture a wide range of metal parts without needing to reconfigure machinery, allowing for faster production times. The goal is to reduce timelines from months to just days, enabling customers to go from digital design to a finished product all within the same facility.
Machina Labs is operating closely with the U.S. Air Force on projects involving rapid production of missile and hypersonic vehicle parts. The company is also collaborating with commercial clients like Toyota to produce high-quality automotive components.
By combining processes like forming, machining, welding, as well as assembly into one “intelligent” system, Machina Labs aims to create a manufacturing model that is as adaptable and scalable as software. While defense remains a major focus, the company’s platform is also being used to support commercial innovation alongside national security needs.
