It possesses similar chemical properties to glass fibers but have better physiochemical properties than glass fibers. It is also very cheap as compared to carbon fiber. - In December 2019, Basanite Industries LLC, received all permits to start production of BasaFlex (basalt fiber reinforced polymer) at its plant based in Pompano Beach, Florida (U.S.). The new plant will help Basanite Industries to expand its basalt fiber capacity and meet increasing demand for basalt fiber from construction industry.
